Interest in CLA began in the late 1980s when Michael W. Pariza, a professor in the Department of Food Microbiology and Toxicology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, discovered an isolated agent in fried hamburger that reduced the incidence of cancer in mice. A few years later his team unmasked the mystery element: a chemical form of linoleic acid they called conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA.*
Conjugated Linoleic Acid works using a thermogenic process and has a "potent inhibitory effect on body-fat accumulation". * Other foods also do this eg. chillis, cayenne, which raise your (resting) metabolic rate even when you are not exercising and therefore burn off more stored fat.

It is recommended that you take the supplements for the first one to two months to KICK-START the fat-burning process only, then follow up and TAKE OVER with exercise and movement.***
You may not notice a big weight loss as such because you have lost in girth ie. INCHES OFF YOUR BELLY (meaning you have lost fat, which is your DESIRED OUTCOME, especially the dangerous 'belly fat'!) rather than weight (meaning you have NOT lost your MUSCLE mass which is what happens with most diet-plans and something you want to avoid for the reasons given above and also for the reason why these fail because as soon as the diet stops the fat piles back on ... because they have lost (more) MUSCLE rather than fat in the first place.)
If your case is acute, it is worth considering using this supplement especially as you only need to use it for a short period. If you have health complications consult a medical practitioner first but do go to one who believes in a holistic approach to preventative healthcare rather than someone who reaches for the prescription pad or wants to put you on costly (to both your financial and physical health) prescriptions everytime you visit them!
